WHO CAN APPLY? All graduates from the Netherlands and abroad who have gained a degree at an art or film academy having specialised in “animation” (MA of BA), or people with an equivalent level, can apply for a place at the studios. People with one or more practical years of experience are given preference. The participants are expected to have an explorative attitude, and demonstrate a high degree of independence and personal initiative. We advise anyone who is seriously contemplating taking part in a selection round to make an appointment to visit us, to gain more information about our studios. (The Netherlands Institute is officially permitted to host foreign guests: see www.internationalstudy.nl) Download: INFORMATION FLYER (PDF) APPLICATION FORM (PDF) PROCEDURE Well before one or more studios become vacant the NIAf will launch an application procedure. This takes place once or twice a year. We generally announce the date of the next selection round two or three months before the actual selection on the web site, via the mailing list and, if necessary, via other channels. People who previously informed us of their interest are automatically notified at their home address. Anyone who wishes to be informed by e-mail can sign up to our mailing list. AN APPLICATION COMPRISES: - a completed application form (this can be supplemented with a curriculum vitae) - written motivation - a portfolio, preferably with animation work - a project - or research proposal. The final submission date is one week before the actual selection. (This time is needed for forwarding the dossiers to the committee members and allowing them time to examine all the dossiers thoroughly.) Soon after the selection the letters with our decisions, giving detailed reasons, are sent out. An appointment is made with those persons selected to discuss the date on which they can start their period in the studios. Before applying, foreigners should ascertain the consequences concerning a visa the period of currency and application), accommodation, and the language (the language spoken at the studios is Dutch). Include a note of your findings in your written motivation. |
