Objective
The objective of the Netherlands Institute for Animation film (NIAf) is to promote the animated film in the broadest sense of the word. The NIAf seeks to achieve this goal by functioning as an education, knowledge and information centre for the animated film with the following tasks:
-developing a workplace, where animation filmmakers the opportunity to specialise and research;
-setting up and implementing education projects;
-encouraging the production of animation films;
-promoting the distribution and display of animated films and exhibiting artwork;
-undertake research, managing a documentation archive, library and a collection of films and artwork.
Knowledge and information centre
From the creation of the NIAf in september 1993, the accent is located in the workplace because this is the basis of the Institute. Because of the growing international interest the name of the workshop was changed in 1999 in Animation Studios. This name does more justice to the content of this important activity. The NIAf itself has created the conditions for the operation of the workshops. In the past decade has amassed a great deal of knowledge and a network of institutions and persons. This is an increasing flow of information generated. This information will for an important part at the service of the Animation Workshops and education projects, but is also used for the benefit of others. Important for maintaining this information-and knowledge center research, archiving, collection management and data processing. Other settings in there provided not in Netherlands. Together with the Holland Animation Film Festival (HAFF) is the only professional organization that the NIAf art form animation Central. National and international, the Institute considered an important ‘ spider in the web ‘ and a valuable information-and knowledge centre on animation area.
